Why Should You Recycle Your Old Television?
In the US TV Recycle Programs help consumers safely dispose of old televisions. It is a program for electronic media recycling that allows you to safely and economically dispose of your old television. To ensure that TV Recycling reduces electronic waste, you must follow some guidelines.
Contact your local recycler first. Many TV Recyclers are located in the US. They can be reached via telephone or Internet. Find one either by visiting the facility or calling them. Most electronic recyclers today accept televisions from all major brands.
Once you’ve chosen a local TV recycler, go to the store and take your old TVs. You will usually be provided with a bin in which to store your old TVs. You will be given a kit to collect your old TVs. In this kit, you must fill out all the necessary information, such as serial numbers and model numbers. After the TV Recycler has received your information, it will prepare a bin for your television and remove any protective coating.
How old is your TV? The date of manufacture is taken into consideration by most recycling programs. If it was made around 1990, then it wouldn’t be included in the programs. Unplug the TV from the wall. When you are ready to do this, take your TV into a garage or somewhere else that is not in the way.
The next step is to remove the screws from the TV. Remove the antenna cable as well as the power cord. It is best to leave the old television on a flat, clean surface. Wear protective gloves when cleaning the TV.
You should also empty the contents of your bin. It is not necessary to keep the TV in its original state, as most of its components still work. You only need to dispose of the old electronics in a bin located centrally, such as at a landfill. It will prevent the old electronic waste polluting and taking over the planet.
